Project Goal

This project aims to reduce the incidence and prevalence of malaria in vulnerable communities through targeted interventions that enhance prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. The focus is on empowering communities with the knowledge, tools, and resources needed to combat malaria effectively and sustainably.

The project Implementation strategies

1. Participatory reflection approach which provides the community platform for discussion and share of ideas
2. Use of publicity materials like posters, flyers, t-shirts, updates and radio programmes
3. Training of community volunteers on MALARIA ,
4. Sensitisation and skills building workshops of health workers and CBOs operating within the same locality
5. Networking and collaboration with different stakeholders.

Project Planned Activities

1. Conduct monthly technical and logistical support to community volunteers to mobilize and carry out community meetings on Maternal Health
2. Conduct monthly and quarterly follow up visits to community VHTS to improve community activities
3. Advocacy skills workshop for CSOs and CBOs on MALARIA reduction and elimination
4. Conduct district and sub county health lobby meetings of trained CSOs, CVS, Health workers on MALARIA
5. Hold radio talk shows to increase awareness about MALARIA
6. Conduct end of project evaluation to assess the project impact

Project Achievements

1. The project supported VHTs and health workers to conduct community awareness meetings with community members. More than 850 (M 249, F 601) individuals were reached

2. Reduced malaria incidence rates in the target areas.

3. Enhanced knowledge of malaria prevention practices in communities.

Conclusion

This project seeks to create lasting change by empowering communities with the tools and knowledge to fight malaria. By addressing the root causes of vulnerability and enhancing access to healthcare, it aims to significantly reduce the burden of malaria and improve overall community health.
